Mr Ewen FinnieYear Leader for 6th Form
Mr Ewen Finnie
I am the Year Leader for the Sixth Form and a Geography teacher. I have been part of The Grange Academy since 2021 and I am proud of the rapid and significant progress our Academy has made in that time. My role means that I get to support and challenge sixth form students each day to be the best that they can be, I am responsible for the quality of education that our sixth form students receive as well as curating our personal development programme. Our Sixth Form not only offers a wide range of academic subjects, but each student is inducted into either one of an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), or Sports Leaders programmes. This gives opportunities for students to develop the academic rigour required for university study, as well as the interpersonal skills for a career in leadership and management. Coupled with our form time programmes of PSHE and The Science of Learning, and visits to university open days, skills workshops and guest speakers, each Sixth Former is provided with the guidance and support to best prepare themselves for life after The Grange Academy.

Mrs Chrissie DundonSixth Form Support Officer
Mrs Chrissie Dundon
I joined The Grange Academy in October 2005 and have taken on numerous roles within the school. The most rewarding being my current position as Sixth Form Support Officer. Seeing students develop to become independent successful adults is the best part of my job. Here at The Grange Academy, we provide a range of support to ensure students are in the best possible position for life beyond Sixth Form. I am the Safeguard Lead and Support Officer for Sixth Form, this means I support students in a variety of different ways whether that be through the leadership of the bursary fund or helping students understand the importance and benefits of having an excellent attendance record. I oversee the mentoring, support and guidance to meet emotional and academic needs of each student. I am proud to be a part of an inclusive, caring Sixth Form community who put our student’s personal and academic success at the centre of everything we do.

Sixth form life
Students have strong relationships with sixth form leaders, including form tutors, a dedicated Head of Year and sixth form administrator. Through this, they are supported to make the most of every day. Students have their own dedicated study area and common room and we take pride in supporting students to become driven and disciplined in their use of independent study time. Our student leadership team takes on substantive leadership roles within the school at large, championing student voice through participating and taking a lead with our school council, supporting clubs and extracurricular activities, and liaising regularly with school leaders to ensure the very best experience for all.
Pastoral Care
The heart of our philosophy is that every individual counts; each sixth former is known, cared for, and offered regular guidance and advice.
Our Sixth Form is supported by a member of the leadership team, an Achievement leader and our Sixth Form Support Officer, creating a strong team of staff leading the development and running of our sixth form.
Students have a designated tutor who works with them on a daily basis, supporting them through all stages of their post-16 journey and onto their next steps.
The sixth form team works holistically, supporting all students to achieve their full potential in their post-16 studies; monitoring their academic progress, removing any barriers to learning and ensuring the wellbeing of each individual. We are committed to providing the best outcomes for all of our students.
Please look at the bottom of this page to view our 6th form dress code.
Joining our 6th form will also allow students to take on Leadership opportunities; including Year 11 mentoring, Paired reading with younger students, School council, Sports coaching, leading enrichment clubs and many more.
Please note: A single BTEC is the equivalent to one A'Level. All students have to initially choose 5 subjects in order of preference. We expect students to generally be studying three subjects.
