updated school day timings tga 2024 25.pdf

“All pupils have a Form Tutor who oversees their academic progress and their personal development. We insist on high standards of uniform, behaviour and academic effort as we believe that these high standards will pay off for all of our students not only in school but throughout their lives. Healthy competition and team spirit are encouraged, both inside and outside the classroom, with numerous House competitions and activities so that students both compete and collaborate to be successful.

We have a wide range of before school and after school clubs (those who are very keen can arrive at 07:45 to participate in some of these!) We are blessed with outstanding facilities including a gym, complete with climbing wall, a fitness suite, a dance studio and an outdoor, floodlit, MUGA for tennis, netball and five-a-side football. And that’s not even mentioning the 10 acres of playing fields, for football, rugby, athletics, rounders and cricket.

Our music, art and design technology facilities are superb, to say nothing of our three hundred-seater theatre and I know you will be impressed by the creative talents of our pupils and the possibilities on offer here. The financial backing of Future Academies enables us to arrange cultural visits and experiences which open up new vistas into the Arts, Culture and Music. With Bushey train station just a few minutes away we have London on our doorstep.”

Our Home School Agreement

Purpose

All schools and academies have a Home-School Agreement. The purpose of this agreement is to set out, in broad terms how students, parents and the academy should work together to ensure that every student has the opportunities to achieve the highest levels of attainment possible. Academy students and parents are all asked to sign this document to demonstrate that they endorse the general principles that are set out within it and to show how we all work together for the educational benefit of your child.  At The Grange Academy we simply call this "TGA Way"  This permeates through everything that we do.  Its what makes our culture and ethos, its about us all working together for one common goal, the goal of supporting your child to succeed and thrive.  We ask that you remind yourself of the common themes within "TGA Way" and our three core values of 'Knowledge, Aspiration, Respect'

What is SLANT?

You will hear our students talking about SLANT.  This is simply a strategy that teachers use to allow students to pause and reflect on their learning, track and observe the member of staff so important information can be delivered.

Safeguarding and wellbeing

“At The Grange Academy, we believe that every child deserves a personalised academic and pastoral support programme as they develop into young adults. Whilst we work on developing general key character traits with all students in Kindness, Resilience and Empathy we also ask students to identify and develop personal skills and attributes to make them better citizens.

To support this, we ensure that all students are safe, enjoy attending regularly, and have key adults supporting their school journey.

To do this, we are proactive in identifying and spotting weaknesses.

When incidents occur, our team of Form Tutors, Heads of Year and Pastoral leaders have the skills and interventions to facilitate a positive outcome.

This can sometimes involve the inclusion of external professionals to guide and improve students' physical and mental health, including Counsellors, Life Coaches, and Community Mentors. Alongside dealing quickly and effectively with issues such as bullying we are also keen to promote an environment that fosters cultural capital, allows for social mobility and celebrates different customs, traditions and orientations.”

Parent Pay - The academy way to pay for food and trips.

Benefits of ParentPay

  • enables you to pay for school meals, trips and clubs online by debit or credit card
  • offers a highly secure payment site
  • gives you a history of all the payments you have made
  • allows you to create a single account login for all your children that attend a school making use of ParentPay
  • shows you all items available for payment relevant to each of your children
  • emails a receipt of your payment
  • offers you the ability to set automated email or text payment reminders

How Parent Pay works

All parents are issued with a unique username and password to log into the ParentPay website – www.parentpay.com.  If you have not yet received an Activation letter, please contact enquiries@thegrange.futureacademies.org

ParentPay accepts MasterCard, Visa, American Express credit cards and debit cards. Parents can view online the balance of their child’s catering account and a record of payments made.  Parents have the flexibility to make payments online as regularly and as often as they wish and may find it convenient to top up their child’s account monthly or weekly. The minimum top-up is £5.

How does the catering company know to deduct payment from my account?

A finger will be placed on a biometric scanner at a till. This will activate an individual’s account which will be displayed on screen for the catering operator, including name and current balance.

What about a student entitled to a free school meal (FSM) ?

The system works the same for all students whether they pay or have a free school meal.  All students have their own account to use in the same way.  The amount allocated for the free school meal will be entered into the system by the software daily.  The system will then allow on a daily basis the required cash amount for each individual student to be allotted to their current balance. However, any under spend or missed lunch will be identified by the system and will not be added to the next day’s balance.  The student can also add extra money on to his or her balance to enable a greater daily spend at Cucina than allocated by their free meal allowance.

What do I do if I am unable to log in to Parent Pay?

The ParentPay internet service should be reliable and available anytime. However, if parents experience any problems, they should contact the school for advice.
